What An Amazing BSC Youth Regatta!
Three days of champagne sailing. Six terrific races. 32 boats competing. Fantastic support from family and friends. Generous sponsorship from ARP and Specialized Fixings. Fab apres sailing fun. And some outstanding performances by our young sailors. What more can you possibly hope for?
On the water the top performances came from Blake Tudor, who took a clean sweep of six victories, while James Russell, visiting from Waldringfield, and Brett Tudor slugged it out for second place with James eventually getting the upper hand by just two points. But throughout the fleet there were amazing performances from these young sailors, many of whom were taking part in their first ever regatta. Watching the big grins and hearing the tales of daring do at the end of each day was a joy and the entire club can be very proud of these young people who are just setting out on their journey in our beloved sport.
As always, it took an army of volunteers to make the event happen. Led by our Cadet Captain Graham Eeles with Emma McTiernan heading up the event admin, Lance Edwards coordinating the safety boats and a host of parents, friends and family doing everything from manning the galley and rescue boats to pulling trollies and even handing out essential drinks and suncream at the bottom of the ramp between races, it was truly a great volunteer effort.
BSC Youth Regatta 2018 will run from 7th to 9th August so put the date in your diaries.
And stand by for a gallery of photos from our fantastic photographer William Stacey shortly.
